On May 7 of this year, a meeting of the employees of the Association “Peaceful and Business Caucasus” (APCC) was held and the May action plan was discussed, the purpose of which is to find/attract alternative funding for the organization’s activities.

It was noted at the meeting that APBC purposefully promotes the path of Georgian-Abkhazian, Georgian-Ossetian trust restoration and reconciliation. It selflessly helps people living in conflict regions to receive free highly qualified medical services /treatment/ from the Georgian side, as well as to establish economic and partnership ties. Therefore, it is necessary for the organization, taking into account current challenges, to continue active work in this direction for the high-quality implementation of new innovative approaches, initiatives and specific activities.

The number of people seeking assistance in treatment is increasing, and timely response to it contributes to the restoration of trust and acceleration of the reconciliation process. Therefore, it is necessary

to translate the relations of medical clinics, organizations, and higher education institutions that are aware of the importance of the APBC medical project and are willing to participate in it into a practical context and plan cooperation based on mutual respect, consolidate them, and put them at the service of the medical project.

APBC is doing everything possible to significantly increase Georgian-Abkhazian, Georgian-Ossetian ties and relations in the fields of education and economics, and in this way contributes to improving the socio-economic situation of the population living in conflict zones, primarily its vulnerable part. Given the current reality, AMC, together with its partners, plans to focus more attention on the importance of the role of logotherapy in the treatment of patients, on the issue of mental health, and on their emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

The organization is trying to pay special attention to eliminating the alienation that has arisen between Georgians and Abkhazians. It is a paradox, but it is a fact that the dynamics of trust among numerous patients is high, but at the same time, a dangerous trend of alienation between Georgians and Abkhazians, especially among young people, has become noticeable. Therefore, we call on everyone to get involved in the ongoing process of building trust, primarily through the provision of medical assistance, as well as in the direction of establishing and deepening economic ties.

The implementation of these activities will contribute to stopping the Georgian-Abkhazian, Georgian-Ossetian alienation and developing specific ideas and plans for the unification of the country.

The Association “Peaceful and Business Caucasus” (APBC), with the support of the United Kingdom/UNDP, is implementing the project “Medicine is a Bridge for Dialogue and Trust-Building”.

The project has 2 specific goals:

üGoal-1.

To provide assistance to 450 people permanently residing in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, so that they can receive highly qualified treatment in Georgian medical clinics and return satisfied and well-disposed to their own society.

üGoal-2.

To raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle, common culture and common past among at least half of the planned beneficiaries (at least 225 people) and to help them find and connect with relatives, neighbors, friends and other interesting people separated as a result of the war.
